ACT Right to Life AssociationMEDIA RELEASE |
Paul Osborne MLA to launch Associations Internet site
Independent MLA Paul Osborne will be putting aside his interest in politics and football to try surfing when he launches the ACT Right to Life Associations Internet site on Thursday (28 August). Mr Osbornes speech will commence shortly after 1pm in the ACT Legislative Assemblys Reception Room, and he is expected to formally launch the site round 1.15pm. A demonstration of the site will follow.
President of the ACT Right to Life Association, Nicola Pantos, said today that it seemed appropriate that, in its 25th year, the Association should be changing and exploring a new medium of communication in the digital world. "So many schools and homes are connecting to the Internet that it is important that we have an Internet presence as one of a range of ways to present our views to the public", Ms Pantos said.
"The Internet offers great advantages to voluntary organisations such as ours because we can make information available to the public 24-hours-a-day in a format that can be almost instantly accessed. We can then update that information or answer email during the hours that we pursue Association work.
"The site features a repeating sequence of an ultrasound image of an unborn child at 12 weeks and offers information on our three main areas of interest: abortion, euthanasia and reproductive technology. The Internet site also offers information on pregnancy support groups in the ACT and Australia-wide with the use of advertising bars on our home page."
The ACT Right to Life site can be found at the Internet address www.actrtla.org.au.
